Sold On Dreams

Tragic actor kisses lover on the screen
prettiest girl I think I've ever seen
Apollo's heroes leaving footprints in the sand
looking up I think I understand

All of my life I've been sold on dreams
all of my days I've been sold on dreams

Midnight cowboy turns to face the midday sun
dreaming dreams of how the west was won
All the children standing staring one by one
I know someday their time is gonna come

All of my life I've been sold on dreams
all of my days I've been sold on dreams
all of my days all of my nights
I've been sold on dreams

Don't sleep too much
don't dream too hard
don't look too deep
don't push too far
might not come back
don't stop me now
I'm sold on dreams.

Sold on Dreams was put together in my writing partner's bedroom actually! He and Richard (Naiff) had the very strong basic idea and arrangement sussed along with the first verse and a vague chorus. We then tried our trusted method of 'put Paul in front of the mic and he'll come up with the rest', which served us very well. We had an enviable relationship, we got on very well together! When we had the backing track down though we thought we were missing a great riff, so we went 'down the pub!' On our return our guitarist, a guy called Nicky Beer (!!!!!! Really) came up with what I think is an awesome riff and that made the song. I did the remaining lyrics and arrangement in about ooooo, twenty minutes??? The middle section just happened. We were just tracking the drums which we sampled and played along to, it was quite the obvious. We worked like this a lot, Andy starting a song and me finishing it, they were good days I must say and we had some cracking songs...
